About

It started as a letter for one house.

Twelve years of hosting, and none of this was a plan. We bought Snows Creek Retreat when it was a run-down house and a shed by the creek. Getting it to what it is now took years.

The first welcome letter was handwritten, and only because one booking needed instructions too specific to leave to chance. What I did not expect was that the guest mentioned it. Not the instructions — the letter. They said how much it meant that someone had written it out for them.

So I started typing them instead, one per booking, and emailing them to the cleaner to print and leave out before arrival. Over the years they picked up more: a line for a birthday or an anniversary, what was in the fridge for breakfast, the answers to the questions you have been asked forty times.

JottoGo is that, automated. The email-to-print path in the product is not a clever feature — it is exactly what I did by hand, for years, before it occurred to me that anyone else might want it.

The guest reviews on the homepage are from those stays. Real Airbnb reviews, left by guests who arrived to one of these letters and brought it up without being asked. That is the reason the product exists: not because a letter is a good idea, but because guests kept mentioning it.

It is built by one person. Support is answered by the person who wrote the code, and a fix does not wait on a queue or a handoff between teams.
